We get a lot of questions about the new Dermaplaning service now being offered, so we're sharing answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.
What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation for the skin. It utilizes a specially designed, sterile scalpel to gently remove dead skin cells and fine facial hair.
Is it safe?
Dermaplaning is a great way to exfoliate the skin for most skin types. Our estheticians have been specially trained on the treatment and a new sterile scalpel is used for each guest.
Does it hurt?
No. The treatment is performed using gentle pressure to carefully scrape the top surface of your skin. Most people have reported that it is a sensation similar to shaving your legs.
Will my face be red after the service?
It's possible. This treatment involves gently scraping the surface of the skin which may cause irritation and redness. In most cases the redness will subside quickly and leave only a healthy glow. We recommend speaking with your esthetician if you have sensitive skin, to better determine if this is an appropriate treatment for you.
Is there anything special I need to do before or after my treatment?
There is nothing specific you need to do in order to prepare for your treatment. We do recommend you apply and use a quality moisturizer containing sunscreen to protect your newly revealed skin after your treatment.
Can it be combined with other facial services?
Yes! Dermaplaning is great to use along with other facial services. Since the exfoliation gets rid of the dead skin clogging your pores, the products you use following the treatment are able to absorb into your skin more easily making this a great treatment to use in conjunction with one of our vita skin peels or with any facial service.
What results can I expect?
Dermaplaning removes the very fine hair that covers your face as well as dead, dry skin cells that leave your face looking and feeling dull. You can expect to see glowing skin that feels as smooth as a baby’s bottom. You will notice that your makeup applies like butter and your skin care products will absorb better for more impactful results.
How often should I have the treatment?
We reccommend you have the service every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain and continue results.
As always, feel free to schedule a custom and complimentary consultation with one of our estheticians to learn more about the service and how it can benefit your specific skin care goals and desired outcomes.
